BRAINIAC FIELD MANUAL

HOW TO USE THE PROTOCOL

This is not a demand to watch every Marvel project ever made. It is a guided route that keeps the characters, universes and story turns most useful on the road to Avengers: Doomsday.

Why the route is arranged this way

The backbone follows release order because most reveals were designed for audiences seeing these stories as they arrived. A few placements bend that rule when the story reads better another way: Black Widow sits beside Civil War, Guardians Vol. 2 stays close to Vol. 1, Hawkeye pauses around No Way Home, and legacy universes are grouped where they become useful.

The Raimi and Webb Spider-Man films are now required before No Way Home because that MCU film directly brings their Spider-Men and villains into its story. The street-level Netflix material stays because current Daredevil, Punisher and Spider-Man stories build on that history.

How big is the full road?

With the five legacy Spider-Man films promoted into the required path, this build contains 68 required checkpoints and about 237 hours of required viewing. A required-movies-only pass is about 106 hours. The Disney+ essentials filter is much tighter, but because Brainiac explicitly includes both Loki seasons it represents about 41 hours across 15 named projects.

Release order or timeline order?

For a first watch, use the main tracker. It protects reveals and post-credit timing. The timeline lens is a rewatch tool: it moves stories toward where they broadly happen while keeping alternate Earths labeled instead of pretending every universe shares one calendar.

The five files

  1. The Founding Era: the Infinity Saga foundation through Far From Home.
  2. The Street-Level File: the Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Punisher history that feeds present-day New York.
  3. The Multiverse Opens: the Disney+ and film era where variants, incursions and legacy Spider-Man worlds become active context.
  4. Earth-10005: the Fox X-Men route that leads into Deadpool & Wolverine.
  5. Final Approach: the last run through the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, Brand New Day and VisionQuest.

Doomsday Essentials by Disney+

Disney+ highlighted these 15 projects as an essentials path. Brainiac spells Loki out as Season 1 + Season 2 so there is no ambiguity.

What “optional” means here

Optional does not mean disposable. It means the core Doomsday route still works without that title. Some optional and Beyond projects could become far more useful by Secret Wars, so completists may still get a bigger payoff by watching them.
